Frísky kôň
História
Rimania uznávali Frízského koňa ako silného pracovného koňa, napriek tomu že bol v ich očiach nepekný. O tisíc rokov neskôr sa už jeho vzhľad zlepšil a presadil sa ako silné a vytrvalé zviera, keď nosil frízskych a nemeckých rytierov na križiacke výpravy. Kontakt s východnými koňmi zlepšil plemeno viac ako pridanie andalúzskej krvi, keď Španieli obsadili Holandsko počas 80-ročnej vojny.
Pretože Frízsky kôň vynikol v záprahu, pod sedlom a pri poľnohospodársky prácach, veľmi ho používali ne zlepšenie susedných plemien. Slávny oldenburský kôň pochádza prevažne z frízskej krvi. Ovplyvnil tiež anglického dales a fell ponyho, keď Frízania na čiernych koňoch tvorili bočné krídlo rímskych légii.
Exteriér
Hlava - Hlava je dlhá, s krátkymi ušnicami, ale inteligentná, jemne narysovaná a vyjadruje pokojnú, veselú a ochotnú povahu.
Horná línia chrbta - Pomerne malý frizák má pôsobivú hornú líniu chrbta zdôraznenú vyklenutým a pyšne neseným krkom.
Telo - Telo je kompaktné, silné a hlboké, naznačuje robustnú konštitúciu. Plecia ideálne pre záprah, sú silné. Končatiny sú krátke, silné a majú správny obvod záprstia.
Kopytá - Na spodnej časti končatín je bohatá srsť. Tvrdé kopytá sú z modrej rohoviny a nie sú náchylné na choroby.
Vlásie - Chvost a hriva frízského koňa sú veľmi bohaté a bujné, zriedkakedy sa pretrhávajú alebo zapletajú.
Sfarbenie - Frízsky kôň je vždy čierny, plemenná komisia občas toleruje malú bielu hviezdu.

Živosť a temperament robia z frízského koňa dobrého jazdeckého koňa. Avšak plemeno vyniká najmä ako záprahový kôň, pretože je vyvážený a pôsobivo sa pohybuje energickým aktívnym klusom. V jeho rodnej krajine ho zapriahajú do tradičného frízského gigu.
